2008: Hired and inherited internal env mgmt CMDB application. The application had a custom Java Weblogic front end using BMC java api to Remedy CMDB 7.0.1. Phase 1 in prod was line down. I brought application online and designed solution / fixes to stabilize. Phase 2 merged in 2 applications inventory systems (AppCat & Anthology) into CMDB adding custom simplified user interfaces to manage complex CMDB hierarchies. Designed schema/relationships for a level 2 cmdb CI model of Server (phys/virt) to Applications to Datastore hierarchy - including metadata application templates per environment (dev, test, prod) to ensure symmetry, and also upstream/downstream impact analysis (if server x is down what apps and DBs are affected). Phase 3 of this CMDB was re-implemented as the enterprise (e2e) BMC CMDB ver 7.6.04. 2011: (public information) TELUS replaced Accenture as service provider for BC Hydro / Powerex. Contract Java Developer

Self Employed Java Developer

Vancouver

Worked with an off-shoot of one of my university co-op placement companies (Glenayre Wireless Paging). Glenayre folded due to cell phone sms displacement. The remnants formed a start up focused on GPS device tracking for shipping and the like. this company also imploded. I was hired to write their billing system. Transaction Daily Records in real time, were received by the system. My billing application took this data, collated it, and compared it to rate plan models and generated billing statements. The application was not finished or placed in production due to company shutdown.

I lost 3 family members between Oct 2002 and Aug 2004. I was the executor for 2 of them. The estates were high contentious. I had planned to return to the USA but family comes first. The business of settling family estates should be simple but in our case was highly contested and litigious and took 2 years. After which I took 6 months off.

Senior Java Developer

design and implement project based improvements of Sun's Shop Floor Data Manager (SFDM) which was the primary software we used to support a PO to BOM to build / test / ship of all Sun Hardware. Our software used used by WWOPS (world wide operations) for Newark / Bearerton / Linlitgow. supported this application for entire 3 years at Sun.During this time, I created my own side project ( because don't like manual steps ) to automate collection of release and install notes and made install scripts mandatory. Downtime per release was 48+ hours every 7 weeks. I got this down to 1 hour on average. At $10,000 / hr downtime I saved the company $3.3 MILLION a year.My claim to fame : in 2001 I primed the FIRST corporate implementation of JAVA Web Services (jwsdp v1) used by World Wide Ops (wwops) . I design 100% of the solution (from white paper and v1 libraries) and I coded 60% of the implementation. The application (Part Change Notification) implemented a web services front end exposed through DMZ that allowed external part vendors notify defects or EOL/ replacement parts for in service inventory demand driven manufacturing FFM (factory floor manager). I left Sun and USA for Canada. 3 of my family died and I was their executor.

Managed day to day operations of small business - service bureau. We offered desktop publishing; graphic design & layout; logo creation; branding; marketing / mass mailing services; light database / programming projects; technical writing; resume consultation / rewriting / interview prep. customer base of 900. 100 corporate; Supply and Services Canada (protected level C - expired), BC Hydro. ~800 individual. high school students / business & legal & medical prof. / politicians. sold business (merger). I thought it important to keep this job description, despite it's age. I was 22 in 1988 when my partners and i started this venture. In hindsight, we didn't know a thing about running a company, but we learned. We spent that first summer, in the library, or at the Federal Business Development Bank's entrepreneur library. We studied basic accounting, marketing & advertising, finance, learned how to type, basic computer skills, and basic business management, We developed a business plan, and incorporated the company. Then we pitched our ideas to the office building landlords until we convinced one of them to give us a chance. We had only had a meager $5000 seed money, yet we secured a four room suite in a respectable office building in the financial district. We frugally bought at auction and painted the suite ourselves. It was no palace, but it looked the part. It was a brave venture to try,, given we had no significant capital or the education and experience one would expect to have before running one's own company. It was sweat equity for the first 6 months; but we learned fast and gained such valuable experience. Having this real world experience helped me get so much more out of my business courses when i returned to university in 1993. It also made me a credible and reliable IT contractor allowing me to work short hours while earning enough to pay fro my courses. i worked and studied at the same time.subsidiary startup: personnel agency. 1990
