Dimension: ADNOC and its partners own and operate the 4th largest single-site refinery and the largest single-site ethane cracker and polyolefins complex in the world. Role: Leading ADNOCs Downstream team for development of new ventures and major new asset projects for Abu Dhabi’s refining, petrochemicals and fertilizer business. Achievements: Led the engagement process with potential partners, created a common basis for cooperation and initiated the due diligence process for the development of a refining partnership in close cooperation with the investment office. Initiated new petrochemical partnerships to expand the downstream value chain.

Development of vision and master plan for petrochemicals value chain in Abu Dhabi with the objective to optimise value creation from available feedstock. Planning of the Aromatics project and preparation for sanction.

Dimension: BP Petrochemicals global assets and ventures.Achievements: Developed framework for manufacturing excellence for BP’s chemicals sites in close connection with Asian JV’s.

BP senior representative in country, managing relationships with authorities and employee representatives. Director of several BP legal entities in Belgium covering significant operations, commercial and financial activities.

Dimension: BP’s petrochemical site in Belgium, employing 400 BP personnel and 150 contractors, with a turnover of 1.25 bn$ and a capital employed of 1 bn$. Role: Operational site director for BP’s Aromatics complex. Achievements: Created leadership engagement and restored social relations following a period of industrial disputes. Delivery of major asset investment, but also asset closure & restructuring.

Accountable for operation and maintenance of Polypropylene, Para-xylene and Therephtalic acid.

BU asset strategy definition and implementation through management of business development, licensing and projects. Consolidation of European solvents asset portfolio: major scrap-and-build asset re-configuration in cooperation with 5 manufacturing sites and 3 business units.Expansion of Asian asset base (Korea and China) through joint ventures.Successful commercial start up of 3 world scale assets, 2 of which using new bp proprietary technology.
