Patrick practiced in the firm’s litigation department where he assisted financial institutions in regulatory compliance matters and investigations. He participated in the monitorship of a Swiss bank following its $715 million settlement with the New York Department of Financial Services, part of a broader $2.6 billion settlement that involved the U.S. Department of Justice and other federal regulators.

Patrick guided a start-up financial services software vendor regarding all legal issues, helping to refine its business plan and formulate its IP strategy to enhance branding and protect trademarks. His regular work included entity formation, strategic initiatives, and nondisclosure agreements. He also counseled clients in the areas of corporate and consumer finance. He drafted operative agreements in commercial aviation financings and advised bankers regarding proposed consumer lending programs. He counseled individual clients in a variety of legal matters, including a successful citizenship application.

Patrick practiced in the firm's corporate finance department. He has represented both borrowers and lenders in a wide variety of financings, including private placements involving secured and unsecured debt, to finance a variety of equipment, including intermodal shipping containers, aircraft and rail equipment. His clients have included foreign and domestic financial institutions and lessees in both single investor and leveraged leases, as well as synthetic and capital lease transactions financing a variety of assets. He also oversaw filings with federal authorities related to these finacings.

Patrick prepared inventory finance agreements, lines of credit, term loans and security agreements. He provided counsel to banks as well as captive and independent finance companies in privacy and other consumer finance regulatory issues. He also gained extensive experience in the drafting of vehicle leases, promissory notes, retail installment sale contracts and dealer finance agreements. This included creating forms for a multistate indirect lending platform for a bank, writing and revising a captive finance company's leasing contract forms and ancillary documentation.He also researched and wrote Auto Alert™, a monthly automotive finance compliance report which covers industry legislation and litigation at both the state and federal levels. He regularly provided counsel with respect to the BSA (AML/KYC), ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, GLBA, HOLA, SCRA, TILA, Regulations B, M and Z, Federal Trade Commission Rules, state UCC and UDAP statutes, titling, repossession, seller and lessor licensing, interest exportation, rate participation and privacy.
