I am professor of psychology and gen ed coordinator at Albany State University where I was named 2019 scholar of the year. My work these days deals with educational psychology, particularly the idea of minimizing teaching and maximizing learning. At my school I conduct workshops, seminars, and symposia about autonomy supportive teaching, nondirective teaching, qualitative and mixed-methods assessment, working with student coresearchers, and designing/conducting original research projects. In other words, I try to support faculty in their teaching, writing, research, etc.I have written six books, and am working on three more. My most recent book is about supporting student autonomy in the college classroom. My second-to-last book is a fun and incisive (and concise) introduction to self-analysis. It is called LIFE IS EASIER THAN IT SEEMS. Download a free copy of it any 20+ other articles and book chapters of mine at my website www.patrickmwhitehead.com.
