Patrick started within DNV GL in 2014. Since that time, Patrick worked on a variety of projects as performance test engineer, cooling water engineer, cost engineer and process consultant. In his latter role, Patrick gives advice on emission reduction, cost, performance and carbon capture, for waste to energy, biomass to energy and other electricity and heat producing assets.

In the 10 years patrick worked at the bicycle shop, he developed himself to an all-round employee responsible for reparation and sales of bicycles in all bike segments.

Patrick’s master graduation project was within the Process Intensification group on the topic of auto thermal reforming of methane. On this topic, Patrick worked on the development of reaction kinetics and characteristics for both a commercial, and self-synthesized catalyst. Patrick’s bachelor graduation project was executed within a monomer factory on the topic of ammonia emission reduction. On this topic, Patrick worked on testing active coal to adsorb ammonia present in the vent gas system of the factory. Next to that, Patrick identified the issue that led to additional ammonia emissions outside the ventgas system and he gave advice to prevent this from happening in the future.

Patrick worked on 2 different topics during this internship. On the first topic he gained experience with the operation of a biomass gasifier. On this project, he mapped the energy usage and identified the unit operation with the highest energy loss. He also worked with a carbon capture pilot installation, identifying performance issues.
