Growing up in a Canadian/NATO military family, and subsequently training as a Naval Officer, instilled logic, mental discipline, and calmness under pressure, into all I do. I have combined this background, along with an insatiable curiosity of anything I don’t understand, with undergraduate science and graduate business degrees to guide me through numerous business mazes at executive and board levels. My specialties: Business Transformation, Leadership (Board, Executive, Interim), Organisation Structuring, Mergers and acquisitions, Sustainability, Complex Building and Precinct Planning. I have been fortunate to have gained extensive international business experience in guiding complex organisations to develop their strategies, structure themselves and maximise their potential. Above all else, the need to simplify the complex and provide transparency has proven to result in long-term financial viability and passionate, effective, teams achieving their goals.My broad experience has been across numerous industries including computer hardware/software, logistics and distribution, recruitment, government, higher education and health care across Australia, Asia, the Middle East and Canada.Most recently, as the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice President at UTS, I have had the privilege of leading, some exceptional teams to develop what was the first 10-year long term finance plan for a University in Australia. This in turn lead to the development and implementation of the largest ($1.5 Bil) and most comprehensive campus rebuild in the country. The end result of both has been a long-term financially sustainable environment, that has supported an outstanding student learning experience and been an enabler of UTS achieving its #1 ranking for impactful research in Australia (Leiden Ranking). All of this while reducing carbon emissions and focusing on the UN SDG’s. Mission accomplished.In my downtime, I simply like to be out on any adventure with family or friends. I could be skiing or camping on some snowy mountain top, sailing, or simply soaking up the culture of some far away land.
