Information Technology Specialist
CurrentIn this role I support the information systems technologies used by the hospital system, ranging from Personal Computers and Mobile technology to Scanners, Copiers, and Printers. We utilize Microsoft Endpoint Manager, an inhouse ticketing system, and extensive use of ActiveDomain. Some of my main duties involve Workstation imaging and management, IP Addressing via reserved DHCP, and helping fellow employees with their day to day issues, with a focus on education and procedures to ensure faster resolution in the future. I have written many procedures on how to resolve common issues, and have a greater understanding of Change Management as a result of my experience. I am considered the day to day face of the department and take pride in providing helpful and prompt resolutions to issues, as well as providing education to avoid future concerns, where possible. I have also acted as a mentor, even as I was mentored, to help constantly expand the knowledge base of myself and my colleagues. For this position we had to maintain a working knowledge of all three campuses, plus the clinics so we could be reasonably expected to fill in at any location. We had a reworking of our job description that involved us having to work both Tier One and Tier Two support. This new position involves us dealing with a mixed schedule of dedicated phone support and traditional in person support. In this new position we interface with both the employees as well as patients looking for assistance access to their medical chart application, namely help resetting usernames and passwords, using established protocols for contact. This also moved us to a 24/365 availability on our schedule and holidays/PTO. This also had us dealing more with Epic than we had in the past. This position change also gave us experience with a hybrid telework/in person schedule, depending on which schedule was assigned at the time.
