Proposed and conducted summer research project as part of the SPUR Summer Research Award- Built heuristic search algorithms for event bounded continual area sweep using Beam Search and Monte Carlo Tree Search leading to improvements of up to 4.1% in detections per second and 5.0% in average event detection time.- Conducted experiments on reinforcement learning algorithms that showed that MDP-based PPO performed better than SMDP R-learning and SMDP DDQN on sparse and non-sparse environments of the continual area sweep problem.- Created U-Net autoencoder leveraging environment features to decode event probabilities, significantly reducing the number of detected events per second and average detection time.
