    Mechanical Engineer
    D'Addario & Company, Inc. Mar 2014 - Present
    Us
During my 10-years at D'Addario, I focused on Research and Development, manufacturing, launching new products and implementing/maintaining automation systems. These projects aimed at increasing market share, reducing costs, increasing throughput, and improving quality. Each project required my experience in management and engineering.Design Engineer (High-Volume Automation)Designed over 40 projects, 15 of these projects focus on automation systems and integrated electro-mechanical systems with pneumatic and vision controls which were all linked to a PLC and HMI. All designs were optimized using CREO for modeling, FEA, and simulation. Designs adhered to DFM principles and QC’s 6 Sigma (DFSS) methodologies. Vision technologies, like Cognex and Keyence cameras, were integrated into inspection systems inspecting over 25 million parts annually.New Product Development (R&D)Contributed to launching Venn, an innovative composite reed, involving reverse engineering organic materials and developing a novel composite material, which earned a patent. This initiative established a new manufacturing process, custom machinery, and a new supply chain. While the team initially explored injection molding, production shifted to pultrusion. ManufacturingOversaw 28 inspection cameras across 5 Automatic Blanking Machines (ABM) and 6 Digital Reed Machines (DRM), ensuring 100% part inspection. Utilizing Kaizen, Lean, 5S, and 6-Sigma initiatives, the company maintained an OEE of 80% for the DRM's.Led a team using the Factory Talk program to analyze data and identify areas for improvement. Increased ABM throughput by 20%, using data analysis, DMAIC and FMEA.Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for new process and machinery.Project ManagementManaging over 40 projects, which require scopes, budgets, and schedules (utilized MS Project). Presentations included crucial updates, KPIs, S-curves, Gantt, and burn-down charts, to convey the projects status.
