As director of engineering and sciences at Logos I had responsibility for the development of our team of mechanical, systems, imaging, and chemical engineers. We deployed our staff to work in imaging sensors, airborne platforms, chemical manufacture, and intelligence analysis tools.Cameras form the starting point for defense intelligence missions. But after the photons are converted to bits, those bits need to become information to people who make decisions. For Logos I have been managing teams to create algorithms which turn advanced camera system data into stable videos. Those stable videos form input into the next level of processing, either an analyst or an algorithm, to construct the narratives of movement that underlie the persistent surveillance mission.I've been involved in proposals, execution, managing, testing, and deployment, with such a range necessary because of the small fast paced environment at Logos.

Designed an algorithm to follow a coastline from a small UAV, including image processing, sensor design, and control. Implemented the algorithm on an embedded computer and successfully tested the entire system at a naval proving ground.Motivating force and lead on the proposal for the Intertrack project with NRL funded by ONR. This project combined logical inference, human interaction, and image processing to do a better job tracking vehicles through an urban surveillance network. Project was carried on successfully after I left NRL for Logos Technologies.Researched methods for using hyperspectral sensors to control unmanned aerial vehicles.Improved existing neural network face recognition software. Trained and tested a biometric face recognition system.
