What I enjoy most is helping experienced leaders to make more of a difference in the world.Sometimes it's through coaching the leaders to make a bigger impact on the teams and the organisations they lead today. There's a great buzz we get in working together to bring the best out of teams and see people grow. The biggest buzz is in helping the leaders to direct their energies to causes bigger than themselves, things they really care about, and helping them find the best way to make a difference in those areas. That could be through many different routes: volunteering; trusteeship; non-executive directorships; corporate social engagement; and even navigating their way to a "next act" career with a purpose.I started my career working with Apple when its mission was to change the world of work, one desk at a time. Then I moved to The Body Shop, inspired by Anita Roddick's passion to make a difference to people, communities, animal welfare and the planet. In 2006, I started my own coaching business to work with others in pursuing their own inspirational and impactful futures.I am a coach and have at times also been a change agent, a project leader, a researcher, a University teacher and an advocate for Compassion Practices. I've also been a parent, a step parent, grandparent (and even a great-grandparent), as well as a colleague, mentor, Charity Trustee, human rights campaigner and a pen friend to prisoners on death row. Some of the most incredible leaders I have worked with have been at On Purpose, which offers a path for talented people in early career to move into leadership roles with big social and environmental impacts and a sense of real purpose. I coached on the ground-breaking London programme until 2022 and done work with the core team.I like to facilitate positive change for my clients and in the wider world and to see working lives and working relationships get better. I can be compassionate and, in service of big impacts and better outcomes, I can choose to be challenging: but I'm not big and I'm not scary. My values include curiosity, collaboration, contribution, generosity, consideration, trust and lifelong learning. Outside of work, I like to be outdoors: in Gwen our camper van, hiking, fair-weather cycling, strumming on one of my guitars. I started Couch to 5k in lockdown and now run a couple of times a week, weather permitting. As I get older, life is not only about work, so I've been resetting the equilibrium.I'm always interested to learn from what experienced leaders are up to and happy to have a chat.Pronouns: he/him.
