My professional goal is to provide my clients with focused, efficient, and responsive legal advice to facilitate effective solutions. I particularly enjoy finding answers to complex legal / technical issues.I am licensed in both North and South Carolina and maintain an active practice in both states. I also have cases around the country for my clients and have tried cases in multiple states. My cases have included defending against allegations of software defect(s) causing unintended acceleration in motor vehicles, litigation arising from defective airbag inflators, general product liability claims, and trademark and Lanham Act claims. I have extensive experience working on mass tort/economic loss class action cases related to product liability matters. This experience has included creditor-side bankruptcy work, creation of personal injury/wrongful death compensation trusts, and representation of clients during State Attorneys General conduct investigations into consumer protection claims. This breadth of experience has given me a broad exposure to the entire spectrum of product liability actions, and an understanding how to provide effective client representation in every phase of product liability matters. I especially enjoy the opportunity to understand the underlying allegations and develop issues, themes, and witnesses to advance the clients' case. With a background in engineering, I particularly enjoy learning the technical aspects of the case, and working with expert witnesses. I have developed and executed innovative consumer facing programs that incentivize completion of important recall repairs. My practice has also included document collection and management, including developing focused protocols for the production and review of proprietary trade secret material that ensures protection of these clients confidential and highly valuable materials. Separately, I am very interested in the introduction and application of artificial intelligence technologies and autonomous driving technologies in consumer products and the legal field. This has included teaching CLEs, speaking at the 2018 U. of S.C. Law Symposium, moderating SAE panels, and preparing client advisories.
