It is also considered the hardest course in our graphics programs and sometimes the CIS department.Advised a wide array of master thesis, senior design, and independent study projects on topics including open source, spatial data structures, ray tracing, physically-based rendering, image-based lighting, voxels, virtual reality, and glTF. Extreme Blue Software Engineer InternIbm Jun 2003 - Aug 2003Armonk, New York, Ny, UsFor my final internship during undergrad, I returned to IBM and was fortunate participate in their high profile Extreme Blue program, which had a 2% acceptance rate.Our team of 3 technical interns and an MBA student worked with mentors at the Almaden Research Lab to develop a content-addressable storage solution for efficient storage of write once read many data.I developed the frontend using C++ and MFC. We were also issued a patent for secure removal of objects from disk storage.We demoed our work to Sam Palmisano, IBM CEO at the time. I barely knew what a CEO was at the time, and I had no idea I would become one - of a much more modest company - 16 years later.Extreme Blue was very well ran and instilled an innovative, fast paced, collaborative, go big culture. This had a huge impact on the Cesium culture of today. -
Z/Vm Operating System Development InternIbm May 2002 - Dec 2002Armonk, New York, Ny, UsMy second internship during undergrad was at a company I aspired to work at: IBM.I spent the first half developing internal tools for automated component testing of new operating system APIs using Rexx and C. Some of our work was even published in an IBM Research Disclosure.The commitment to testing I learned during this time carried with me to this day and has significantly impacted the Cesium culture and engineering approach.During the second half of this internship, I was thrilled to work with the Linux Kernel (2.6 IIRC) deep in the filesystem layer, focused on caching and virtual machine shared access. I wrote a lots of internal developer guides and loved every minute of the low-level C coding and operating system data structures and algorithms. I had the privilege to work with great mentors who opened up my eyes to the people side of software development while I also read many classic books on the subject: Peopleware, The Mythical Man-Month, etc. -
