Crossroads opened its doors in November 2019 and due to my pre-opening experience and vast knowledge of the Maldives I was given this opportunity to make this the Largest and most successful Lifestyle Hub in the Maldives. By bringing to my guests all that they love and expect from a resort in the Maldives and so much more.Due to Covid and slow pickup had to find other channels than just the Wholesale market to find business on the books. After my first month did a fantastic deal with Travel Zoo to bring in 14100 room nights from the USA, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, and Uk markets to secure base business. Assigned new global GSA to boost sales. Introduced the New 360 platform for partners in order to do virtual Fam Trips to the Island through Zoom and other media forums. Created the “New Normal” guide line manual “Clean Stay” which included new cleaning and safety procedures and new guest engagement while introducing Handigo App to reduce touch points for the guest and enhance guest engagement via on line messaging service and on line concierge service. Reviews on websites like Trip Advisor have been excellent. During challenging times reduced payroll by 65% while maintaining good service and reduced all operating and capex costs to maintain profitability. As a strategic business leader of the Resort, I had the responsibility for all aspects of the operation, including the financial performance, sales and revenue generation and delivering a return on investment to both CCR and the Owners. Last year alone with the help of all departments we managed to save more than $1.4 million in operating costs and reduced plastic waste by 80%. Due to this and my excellent relationship with the sales agents, we could maintain our GOP during a challenging year. Under my leadership Guest Satisfaction has improved as we rolled out a new online learning platform called Lobster Ink. This with other on job trainings means we exceed guest expectations and improve on delivering personalized services, resulting in increased guest loyalty, profit, and market share. To maintain our competitive edge certain renovation projects were completed under my guidance such as the largest kids club in the Maldives, gym featuring two floors & first paddle tennis court in the Maldives. Our focus is now renovating guests' rooms and bars of which 55% has been completed. A 5-star luxury hideaway designed to surpass your expectations and to provide excellent service on every step of the way. 90 guests rooms 3 restaurants including the 5.8 restaurant the world’s largest all-glass undersea restaurant. 4 bars 1 over water spa, 4 luxury diving boats and a host of water sports activities. As this was an opening a large focus was on leading and training in the sales, catering, reservations, and revenue management team. Due to my past experience in the Maldives, I invited back many of my sales contacts to actively participate in Fam trips, property tours and one and one meetings with myself and team. This was ongoing as of June 2016. I was also involved in the maximization of room revenue by the anticipation of market shifts, development, and monitoring of annual business and marketing plans, and participating in appropriate national marketing efforts. This effort by myself and the marketing team meant that after only one month of opening the resort we were running at 90% + occupancy. One of the most successful openings stories here in the Maldives I was actively involved in the completion process of the project from, design, equipment ordering, setting up pre-operating standards, checklists and snag lists. Main duties but not limited to implementing CCR standards, the development of sales & marketing to increase occupancy, improving on the financial performance of 2012. All rates and concepts were revised and we also made this the only 18+ adult only Island in the Maldives to create a unique USP. While focusing on building team morale and training we also invited back many sales operators to relaunch Komandoo, as well as introducing a new Cooperate Identity. Vilamendhoo Resort offers a luxurious casual atmosphere in a very natural setting. 184 guest rooms 2 buffet restaurants, 2 swimming pools, 4 bars, 2 a la carte restaurants, and a host of water sports activities. One side of the island was adults only with a 24-hour bar which was a helpful sales tool. The main responsibilities were to administer, lead and motivate the activities of the entire operation of the resort and to ensure that long-term financial stability goals were achieved, reporting directly to the CEO and owners. As part of the opening team, it was a very exciting and challenging opportunity as we ironed out operational teething situations which also included supervising the finishing of 60 bungalows and generally making sure we got the new property running at full capacity as quickly as possible. Due to excellent pre-training and planning and my hands-on approach the operation ran very smoothly from day one. Guest comments remain excellent on forums like trip advisor.To maximize occupancy and minimize overbookings I created with our IT manager using vision, a simple yield management templates with simple to read occupancy forecasts. This report also helped to see daily and yearly pick up trends so as to yield the hotel to its full potential depending on demand. These reports are now used amongst all CCR resorts as best practice.
