I'm a native of Detroit who has worked at highly successful technology companies on both coasts and in the industrial Midwest and Canada, and I now have 54 years of executive experience in marketing, product marketing, and product management for enterprise tech companies. My entire 35 year career has been focused on B2B markets; I have focused on the SaaS/Cloud world since 1998.My career includes stints as CMO at Nulogy as we transitioned the supply chain tech company from a legacy product in a saturated market to a newly launched product in an enormous new market; CMO at Sight Machine as the manufacturing analytics company closed Series A financing and won a Gartner “Cool Vendor” award; VP Marketing at Plex Systems, where we drove the manufacturing ERP company from under $10 million to more than $70 million in revenue; and VP of Marketing of Mi8 Corp., an early software as a service company that exited successfully in 2005. Currently I'm offering my services for projects and fractional positions, while searching for a full-time role.My area of specialty is strategic messaging and competitive positioning, new category definition and market disruption. I have led several companies through projects to document and identify complex buyer’s journeys, and the target personas that are involved in decision-making.I was a relatively early adopter of the SiriusDecisions “Demand Generation Waterfall” that pioneered the process of identifying marketing qualified leads (MQLs) and the process to convert those to successful sales. Over the last 5 years I have successfully implemented Account Based Marketing (ABM) strategies for building sales pipelines in enterprise markets.

Vp Of MarketingPlex Systems Feb 2007 - Apr 2014Troy, Mi, UsVP Marketing, 2007-2013VP Product Marketing, 2013-2014Plex Systems (www.plex.com) is the developer of the Plex Manufacturing Cloud. (Formerly Plexus Systems LLC, we changed the name in 2009 due to trademark confusion.)I joined Plex in 2007 as VP Marketing after a private equity fund (Apax) bought the company. Working closely with the EVP Sales, I built the company's first marketing programs, focusing on lead generation and market awareness in our core markets - automotive, aerospace, and food and beverage manufacturers. Over the next several years I helped drive the company to ~30% CAGR, with between 60-80% of new customer revenue attributed to marketing-generated leads in each of those years. We did this by embracing emerging best practices in enterprise software marketing, including web-centric programs (SEO, SEM, web analytics, social media, and a user-tested information architecture for the website) and long-term relationship building using marketing automation tools (Marketo first, then Eloqua) and content that focused on thought leadership and the operational impact of emerging technologies. We utilized SiriusDecisions' "Demand Waterfall" model as our organizing model.I also built the company's first product management team, pioneering new methodologies for product management in an agile software development environment. We introduced "community managers" to facilitate discussions among customers/community members regarding new feature requests. This team helped drive >95% customer satisfaction, according to our annual customer survey, and >97% customer retention rate. The original private equity fund exited the investment in Plex August 2012 with a strong ROI; the new ownership includes Francisco Partners (PE) and Accel Partners (VC).Post transaction, I was charged with building the first product marketing team at Plex, focusing on product launches, strategic messaging, and go-to-market strategies for our key verticals industries. -
Vp MarketingMi8 Corporation Jan 2000 - Feb 2007VP Marketing, 2000-2005President, 2005-2007I joined Mi8 as VP Marketing in January 2000, and was named President of the company in 2005. Mi8 was acquired for cash by Apptix in September 2006, with a strong ROI for the original investors.Mi8 Corporation was a leading provider of hosted Microsoft software and related technologies, including Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Sharepoint, RIM Blackberry Enterprise Server, and more. With a focus on premium service and industry-leading uptime standards, Mi8 was an early leader in the "Application Service Provider" (ASP) market, which later evolved into the Software as a Service (SaaS) and Cloud market. Under my leadership, the company grew at a compound annual rate of 35% from 2003-2007, focusing on SMB organizations in the services, financial, and healthcare industries.Mi8 earned a reputation as the quality leader in a highly competitive industry, enabling us to charge premium prices and protect our margins in a market where prices dropped by more than 60% in 3 years. We built a 24x7 customer service team, an ISO 9001 registered data center and operations team, and highly automated configuration controls, including new account setup tools.
