Profile bio

About Patrick Gonzenbach

I am a passionate aviator, currently employed as the Director of Flight Operations at RwandAir. People, integrity and safety are at the forefront of everything I do. My aviation career spans 38 years and has seen me operate as a commercial pilot across Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East progressing onto training and management positions within airlines, predominately low cost models. Recent contributions in my previous role at flydubai:+ Initiated and implemented a successful department restructure in 2021 and fulfilled all vacant manpower positions which resulted in a projected reduction of additional administrative salary of 80% in 2022 compared to 2020. + In 2020 established both the Fleet Technical Unit and Flight Standards section within Flight Operations, resulting in efficient allocation of resources and improved processes and team output, as well as effective planning and execution of regulatory and compliance matters. + Led an initiative in 2021, reducing the number of command upgrade failures. A 33% reduction compared to 2020 was achieved through a systematic and in-depth application and selection process and has since reduced cost to the company in terms of manpower, lost productivity, and utilization of essential equipment such as simulators.+ During the suspension of passenger services due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 obtained regulatory approval for carriage of cargo in the passenger cabin, generating substantial revenue during an unprecedented crisis.+ Oversaw the introduction of one engine out taxi-in (EOTI) after landing project, resulting in a saving in excess of 730K kg of fuel annually.+ Through the introduction of revised processes and materials used by flight crew, reduced annual damages to flight deck equipment (e.g., HGS combiners), from USD 237K in 2017 to USD 76K in 2021 saving $161K USD.+ Coordinated activities required to achieve a 25% increase in flying productivity within a 7-month period (January-July 2022) to cope with an increased capacity requirement due to the post-pandemic upturn in travel demandMy training experienceI hold or have held qualifications as Instrument Rating Instructor, B737 Type Rating Instructor, B737 Type Rating Examiner, Base Trainer and Line Training Captain.
