After re-organizing a documentation department, i moved on to an IT dept where I learned Cobol/RPG 'on the field' on a S38/AS400. I was involved in many different projects for - communications between systems of agents and ship's owners. - all kind of inhouse development.Begin 90's I became also responsible for the upcoming DOS/Wintel-environment with DOS - WinXX - OS2.At that time email got into the company too. We used IBM-Office on AS400, linked with Outlook PC users and a dedicated AS400 emailapplication.In 1999 G&V moved into Conti7, so new opportunities came along. I started to build knowledge on webapps and java. Websphere Application Server, Eclipse with WDSCi are the current tools. Knowlege is built on java, swing, html, jsp, js, xml, css, etc..In 2005 we started with Citrix, I was asked to keep an eye on it, specially to keep a bridge between Wintel environments and our AS400/iSeries.In 2006 a BladeCenter was installed, after replacing PC's with a virtual env., it was obvious to do the same with the Wintel-Servers.Next project was the implementation of Sharepoint to centralize all kind of documents (email, office-doc's, AS400/iSeries documents, invoices,...) into a system from where it available to all users. As from 2009 i became also responsible for the iSeries and i5 servers.From above it is clear that i have not 1 specific 'profession'... I am continuesly extending my knowledge on both system- and softwarelevel.My goal: Keep my company, Conti 7, at the highest level possible with regards to IT Infrastructure, on both hard- softwarelevel, to give the employee's the best possible working environment.
