Senior Software Engineer
My role at Walmart has been in the Order Management System space. We handle the management of Purchase Orders (PO), Work Orders (WO), and Stock Transfer Orders (STO). These are not customer orders, but rather orders to suppliers from Walmart. Or orders we have internally for transferring stock between distribution centers or stores.I started as a software engineer and have been promoted up to a senior. Most of my roles have been involved with general tech modernization across the board.- Converting bare metal server applications to cloud through utilizing OneOps as a cloud deployment tool.- I designed and converted our old monolithic purchase order building system into a modernized solution utilizing kafka and optimized it so that the previous runtimes of our builder went from almost 2 hours runtime to 30 minutes.- Enforce coding and design standards set by the team- Comply with security guidelines for our applications- Helped introduce and translate SOX compliance standards with our team- Use of various technologies for centralized logging, and metrics.- Conversion of OneOps applications to the use of the Walmart Cloud Native Platform (WCNP), WCNP is a combination of, utilizing helm charts, kubernetes, and our CICD platform.Implemented certificate based authentication on our database userids.- Help with conversion of Mainframe Application flows to modernized java applications.- We primarily used Java/Spring applications for our application development.- Help save on cloud costs by upgrading subscriptions used on different compute sizes in Azure, or by converting applications using too little CPU/RAM to a much smaller docker environment.
