Software Programmer/Media Server Builder

San Francisco, Ca, Us

I designed and built 4 custom media servers for the Fresh AV team. They had been contacted about doing some fun projects to help improve the city. The Redwood City Improvement Association contacted the Fresh AV team about doing some other fun projects (they already currently run a massive projection mapping piece in downtown). The Fresh AV team contacted me and we got to work on the projects. One of the projects was going to be a large scale touchscreen that could be setup during major events. Essentially I programmed the Touchdesigner software that runs all 3 touchscreens off of one media server. The people of Redwood City were able to cycle through different looks and then they could color the scene. We had several "winter" themed scenes that people could color on and we also featured prominent buildings from downtown. Users could save their drawings and later download them off of the web. The other project we worked on was the storefront activations. Using a kinect, a media server, a projector and a screen we created a motion tracking piece that can move around the city. Each piece stays up for roughly 2 to 3 months and then it gets moved to another "empty" building downtown. There are 5 different modes to select from so each time it moves the Fresh AV team has something different they can throw up. I also designed a calibration system for the kienct and made the entire media server turn on the program and shut the program down using commands within windows OS.

Dec 2017 - Mar 2018

Interactive Developer

Developed and maintained custom Touchdesigner software for Madrone Studios. Madrone Studios was the in-house AV team for The Village venue in downtown SF and I helped to install all the AV elements including two 5 projection blends. I was also the head of interactive and would develop interactive installations for premiere events with clients like Google, Facebook, Salesforce and more.

Interactive Designer

I designed interactive music, lighting and video installations for art/charity events in the Washington DC area for Art Soiree. For example at Art Metamorphosis I helped setup and project generative art onto the three new levees that had recently been installed to prevent flooding in Georgetown.

Aug 2011 - Apr 2013

Lighting Program Designer

U Street Music Hall

I created a customized lighting control system for Washington DC based nightclub U Street Music Hall. The system was designed using a custom PC computer, Touchdesigner software, an Enttec DMX to USB and an APC 40 MIDI controller. The lighting system was built with three different modes including stage, manual and auto and featured custom effects and rate controls for each of the lighting elements of the club.

Jan 2013 - Mar 2013

Visual Synth / Vjing / Setup

Sensory Sync

I created a visual synth in Touchdesigner and collaborated with artist Charley Alexander and videographer Scotty Dittrich to create a bank of organic looking generative visuals for the project. I also aided with the setup, performance and breakdown of the installation. The Gateway was a projection mapped art installation for the Coachalla Valley Music and Arts Festival in April of 2012. The structure was designed by architect Alexis Rochas of stereo.bot and commissioned by Coachella as their highlight installation for 2012. The project lead was Bryant Place of Sensory Sync, lighting was designed by Simon Clark and Jeremy Roth of Stageworks, and Dave Taylor of Senovva handled projector blending and setup.

Mar 2012 - May 2012

I also instructed group/private DJ lessons and music production classes and would show students how to use Ableton, Pro Tools and Serato. I also helped write the curriculum for the Beat Refinery music production program that focused on Ableton Live.
