UNITED STATES ARMY OCT 1963 THRU DEC 1967. Commissioned 2ND LT OF INFANTRY FROM ROTC at the University of San Francisco. Attended and GRADUATED FROM INFANTRY OFFICER BASIC COURSE, US ARMY RANGER COURSE AND AIRBORNE(PARACHUTE) TRAINING before being assigned as a RIFLE PLATOON LEADER,COMPANY 1 , 2ND BATTALION , 8TH CAVALRY,FIRST CAVALRY DIVISION base north of MUNSANI AND THE IMJIN RIVER ON THE DMZ(demilitarized zone) in the REPUBLIC OF KOREA from June 1964 thru June 1965.Was assigned to BASIC TRAINING COMMAND,US 6TH ARMY AT FT ORD CALIFORNIA FROM JULY 1965 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 1966. Upon received orders to VIETNAM AND PROMOTION TO CAPTAIN,i attended the CIVIL AFFAIRS and MILITARY GOVERNENT COURSE AT FT STEWART GEORGIA BEFORE SHIPPING OUT FOR THE REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM IN DECEMEBER 1966. I was assigned to the first battalion ,14th INFANTRY,3RD BRIGADE,25TH INFANTRY DIVISION BASED AT PLIEKU(CENTRAL HIGHLANDS).I was initially assigned as a BATTALION STAFF OFFICER with the 1/14. After 3 weeks I was assigned as a COMPANY COMMANDER of C Company 1/14.. I held the command for 11 months before rotating home in late December 1967. We were in INFANTRY COMBAT ALMOST EVERY DAY and mostly fought NORTH VIETNAMESE REGULAR ARMY TROOPS. I feel very fortunate that I came home alive and uninjured. when I came home to SAN FRANCISCO I was spit on and called a baby killer. I was very much saddened by how I and other Vietnam Veterans were treated when we returned.I thoroughly enjoy assisting all people in obtaining quality health insurance.
