Tyndall is delivering novel solutions for diagnostics, connected health, smart drug delivery systems, cardio and neural recording and modulation, and minimally invasive surgery. Tyndall has an excellent track record of multidisciplinary research which is ongoing within national, EC and industry projects.My focus is on multi-parameter sensing capsules and probes for medical implants and bioreactors. I work with industry and clinical partners to develop novel technology for medical devices and biopharma instrumentation. The group also sources or develops appropriate test platforms to be used by other groups at Xilinx including Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and laboratory based equipment. The group also sources or develops appropriate test platforms to be used by other groups at Xilinx including Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and laboratory based equipment. The group works with internal and external partners to meet different business needs. Group members are all senior engineers with cross-functional experience and specialized skill sets. My focus was analog circuit test methods for IOs using built-in-self-test (BIST) techniques. I worked with IO circuit solutions designed by internal groups at Xilinx and externally sourced IP blocks for DDR memory controllers and general purpose IO. I worked on the FPGA and ARM based SoC product lines. I developed test solutions that used both boundary scan and FPGA fabric based circuitry. I worked with ATE specialists to make the total solution cost efficient and appropriate for deployment on Xilinx test platforms. I also worked cross-functionally with internal groups to perform root cause analysis of customer returns, improve test coverage and ensure that the overall quality aligned with customer expectations. Designs and supporting files are generated for each product family. Each group member is proficient in software programming in a UNIX environment. The team automates the execution tasks and concentrates on value added tasks such as design and problem solving.I hired engineers and developed the groups capability in Singapore. I contributed at both the managerial and technical level. I worked with cross-functional teams to solve problems and manage the schedule. I presented project status to VP level at operations reviews. My technical focus was analog verification and test of the I/O blocks. I also supervised engineers who developed test designs for RAM, FIFO and high speed transceiver circuits. I developed the FPGA designs and the automated tools to support efficient execution. This was achieved by performing RC extraction of Spice netlists, Spice simulations to predict FPGA propagation delays and silicon characterization to measure the FPGA propagation delays.I managed the Irish group, provided technical guidance, and coordinated activities with the IC design, characterization and product engineering groups. I developed custom RC extraction flows and used both automated and manual techniques to reduce the complexity of Spice netlists using custom tools developed internally. Significant simulation efficiency improvements were achieved. For example, setup and hold type simulations that normally took hours to run could be completed in approximately 20 mins. I also developed FPGA designs including BIST ring oscillators to measure the FPGA performance. Show less

I investigated the operational characteristics of high voltage fuses during the pre-arching stage of operation. I accurately predicted fuse melting times using Finite Element analysis (ANSYS). I completed an investigation of the fuse production process by quantifying the effect of material impurities on the resistivity of fuse elements.
