Born and raised in eastern Connecticut--left and studied Anthropology at NYU for college, then to Brown for Med School. Did an away elective while there at OHSU and fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. Decided to rank OHSU first and did five years of residency and research there in General Surgery, focusing on hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease. Spent time as a research fellow in Rosie Sears' lab studying neuroendocrine subpopulations of cells in pancreatic adenocarcinomas. Ultimately spent two years at Stanford doing advanced surgical training in open and minimally-invasive/robotic liver and pancreas surgery. Returned to OHSU as faculty, spending 50% of my time in Dr. Sears' lab and 50% expanding University oncology services to underserved communities in east Portland. Happily married to my husband since 2015 and a parent of a two year old warrior-toddler.
