Merging our operations teams with my former project and capability team I have responsibility for managing 70+ staff across all aspects of Systems Administration/DevSecOps, Cloud, Storage, End User Compute (labs), and of course our campus network infrastructure.With our lead engineer I introduced a new automated process for DNS management that has reduced time to resolution for DNS changes from days to minutes for engineers and hours for non-technical teams. I worked with the Puppet Labs APAC Sales team to assist customers evaluating, designing and implementing Puppet Enterprise. I was the technical voice in the sales process helping customers understand the value of Puppet Labs products. I have a proven track record of presenting technical information to a varied audience with success. From the first meeting with a potential customer I would work to identify the technical and corporate fit for Puppet Enterprise and the DevOps workflow, which was often unique for each customer. After finding a fit that provided the highest value (and fastest return) to the customer I would work with them to build proof of concepts and ultimately business cases to facilitate internal approvals and bring other teams into the journey. From the day I joined Puppet Labs I engaged with a number of other vendors to build out complete solutions to present to customers with Puppet managing VMware as an example of that. This was a constantly changing landscape that meant I had to work with new people all the time.Lastly I was responsible for community representation of Puppet in APAC, frequently attending and speaking at community events and meetups, speaking and presenting to audiences ranging in size from 30 to 300 people or more. I am comfortable presenting live demonstrations in such venues with technical and non technical content.

Storage consultant, working on EMC NAS/SAN & backup technologies. Doing lots of exciting things with EMC Backup products, Avamar, Networker & Data Domain. Roles included a residency as an implementation specialist at a major international merchant bank, migrating unsupported legacy backup environments onto a NetWorker, Data Domain & Avamar solution in over a dozen data centres world wide. In that time I wrote scripts to automate processes, trained off shore resources to manage the migration work & deployed multiple NetWorker data zones and Avamar grids to meet the requirements of the customer.Recent projects have included implementing new Avamar/Data Domain grids, integrating DDBoost with Oracle & SQL servers & SAN migrations of NAS heads from Clariion to VNX storage.

I was an elected Councilor on Ashfield Council for 4 years. During that time I participated in forming the management plan & strategic plan for the Council. With an annual budget of over $50,000,000 it was important to have a strong grasp of finance and operational issues that affected the bottom line. I was the chair of the Youth Committee which I fostered to the point of self sufficiency, during my term we ran numerous skills workshops for teens, as well as a number of fun events like movie nights & soccer matches. We also guided the redevelopment of the Ashfield Youth Centre, which should be completed this year.A significant part of my time on Council was spent debating Development Applications (DAs) which were often polarising in the community, and required fair, but often contentious decisions to be made.I did not re-contest my seat at the 2012 elections due to work and personal committmments.

Part of the backup team responsible for EMC Networker & Avamar backup systems on Windows, Linux & Solaris. Supporting VMWare ESX, Oracle 11g & SAP systems. Most of my work at Fujitsu was day to day operations with 25% project work.I was responsible for organising and implementing the migration of the legacy Networker environment to new hardware and upgrading Networker across the fleet.

I was resposible for the team who manages all the EMC SAN storage, several hundred RHEL servers & the backup systems which include Commvault & Avamar. I was actively involved in all aspects of the teams work and bring my own EMC IP experience to the team to complement their own skills. Our day to day tasks include managing EMC Symmetrix, Clariion, Celerra, Centera & Avamar systems as well as Dell based RHEL servers & VSphere based RHEL VMs & the Commvault backup systems. We also manage archiving using Arkivio & Commvault agents.I am personaly responsible for managing staff availability, team training & career management. I report to the Operations Manager who reports to the COO & General Manager. I was responsible for implementing Avamar Desktop/Laptop backups & supporting Avamar NDMP backups, along with implementing a scalable redundant DNS system using PowerDNS and MySQL replication.
