I love solving business problems. I grow, advise and lead teams focused on digital transformation using fit for purpose technology and organisation design. Since joining UTS I've grown my original team from 2 reports to 8 direct reports and 20+ indirect. The team ranges from interns through to senior architects and engineers working to automate and modernise core IT functions leveraging modern tools such as AWS, Azure, GitHub and more, all while embedding security at every stage through automated testing, external monitoring and frequent engagement with the office of the CISO. In 2023 my team was merged with the Engineering Operations team resulting in a single team of 70+ people responsible for all aspects of technology design and operations across UTS from our WiFi and network to our cloud environments and the workstations used by staff and students.I have been recognised for driving cultural change throughout our organisation and increasing our technical capabilities significantly. A major achievement has been building consensus across 6 IT departments on the ways we will work and the tools we will use as UTS starts a transformation to SAFe.Prior to UTS (and COVID) I worked as a consultant for several years working globally with organisations ranging from Australian domestic banks to multi-national credit reporting agencies. Predominantly I worked on empowering their software teams to use a secure SDLC process that not only ensured security was always front of mind but also that software was delivered faster to the business users.Banner Photo by Val Vesa on Unsplash

Cyber Technical SpecialistBt May 2016 - Jun 2017London, GbHighlights: * Delivery lead for our customer's big data cyber platform build. Working closely with the customer to understand their objectives and capabilities and provide a delivery model that was suited to their environment. * Designed an automated end-to-end testing pipeline to save months of effort testing the platform.I worked onsite with a BT customer to integrate BT's Cyber Security product into the customer's environment. This was not just a technical delivery, it also took into account the business requirements for availability, cost, operational models & compliance. In addition to being the technical lead for Puppet & AWS most of my day to day work with the customer was about building processes for collaboration between BT and the customer. Whilst I was there for delivery, the BT partnership is a multiyear contract and it's important that the BT and customer's teams integrate and work together in an efficient manner. On a technical side I was working with Puppet, AWS, TeamCity, Git / Bitbucket, Artifactory & Docker on a Linux platform. -

Technical Solutions EngineerPuppet Labs, Inc. May 2014 - Jan 2016Minneapolis, Minnesota, UsI worked with the Puppet Labs APAC Sales team to assist customers evaluating, designing and implementing Puppet Enterprise. I was the technical voice in the sales process helping customers understand the value of Puppet Labs products. I have a proven track record of presenting technical information to a varied audience with success. From the first meeting with a potential customer I would work to identify the technical and corporate fit for Puppet Enterprise and the DevOps workflow, which was often unique for each customer. After finding a fit that provided the highest value (and fastest return) to the customer I would work with them to build proof of concepts and ultimately business cases to facilitate internal approvals and bring other teams into the journey. From the day I joined Puppet Labs I engaged with a number of other vendors to build out complete solutions to present to customers with Puppet managing VMware as an example of that. This was a constantly changing landscape that meant I had to work with new people all the time.Lastly I was responsible for community representation of Puppet in APAC, frequently attending and speaking at community events and meetups, speaking and presenting to audiences ranging in size from 30 to 300 people or more. I am comfortable presenting live demonstrations in such venues with technical and non technical content. -

CouncillorAshfield Council Sep 2008 - Sep 2012I was an elected Councilor on Ashfield Council for 4 years. During that time I participated in forming the management plan & strategic plan for the Council. With an annual budget of over $50,000,000 it was important to have a strong grasp of finance and operational issues that affected the bottom line. I was the chair of the Youth Committee which I fostered to the point of self sufficiency, during my term we ran numerous skills workshops for teens, as well as a number of fun events like movie nights & soccer matches. We also guided the redevelopment of the Ashfield Youth Centre, which should be completed this year.A significant part of my time on Council was spent debating Development Applications (DAs) which were often polarising in the community, and required fair, but often contentious decisions to be made.I did not re-contest my seat at the 2012 elections due to work and personal committmments.
