Successfully hired eight new engineers and relocated two project leaders to Atlanta. Responsible for managing design, development and sustaining engineering for Caterpillar’s Skid Steer Loader Cab Team with over 16,000 machines produced per year. Managed team of six engineers and associated engineering budget, facilitated hiring new staff, and trained team in 6 Sigma Design Methods.• Led the conceptual design and development of new C-Series Skid Steer Loader Cab using 6 Sigma Design Methodologies. Team benchmarked competitive products and developed the new C-Series Design Strategy.• Managed all associated activities to release into production new B-Series Skid Steer Loader Cab.

Facilitated all project management activities for the Skid Steer Loader Platform Team. Managed all design activities for sixteen member team. Developed and maintained the team’s project plan, helped level workloads, and ensure team members focused on priority tasks. Responsible for managing the resolution of all design related issues from prototype and pilot builds.• Guided team through the resolution of critical issues, mentored team members, facilitated team meetings, and oversaw/taught geometric dimensioning and tolerancing of drawings.• Plastic Specialist – Responsible for leading the design and development of all new plastic components for skid steer loaders. Including injection molded consoles, blow molded ducting, and rotational molded fuel tanks.

Led the design and development of the C-Series Backhoe Loader HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system achieving over $1MM in cost savings per year.• Designed, developed and managed the prototype development and production release of all injection molded and blow molded parts, seals, louvers, filters, and metal components.• US Patent Application 2006/0046634 Fender Accessible Air Filter.

Managed the design and development of five mechanical assemblies that control backhoe loader operation. Performed FEA analysis, bolted joint analysis, kinematic analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and strength of materials analysis. • Released over 60 parts to production, patented new control assembly, and achieved $170K year cost savings.• US Patent 6,499,205 Method of converting control set to obtain various control pattern configurations.

Worked part-time throughout the school year designing and developing prototype vending machines.

Complete six full-time rotations as an Engineering Co-op at Coca-Cola designing vending machines and beverage dispensing systems. Designed, constructed, and tested unique fountain dispensers and vending machines.• Key projects included; a thermoelectric cooler for dispensing fruit juice, a compact refrigeration “air-curtain” cooler to capture point-of-sale shelf space, and an automatic beverage dispenser for restaurants.• Patent submission for automatic beverage dispenser (automatic dispenser currently used by McDonalds)
