Principal Specialist Paralegal
CurrentMain responsibility is to administer the company's internal patent operations. Duties include to maintain the patent portfolio management platform FoundationIP and the renewals/maintenance fees/annuities database on the IP Platform RENEW app while coordinating with the vendor CPA Global's support team regarding any required system maintenance. Create various reports for internal analysis of among other things, portfolio trends, expense budgets, and filing counts. Review records for data integrity, open docketing activities requiring attention, and to address any questions that arise from colleagues. Data entry of record notes as provided by the monetization team. Initiate the transfer of records as necessary in IP patent assignment agreements with other parties. Oversee compliance with ITAR regulations by FoundationIP users. Scheduling of Patent Development Committee meetings to evaluate invention disclosures for specific technologies. Manage Inventor Recognition Award Program including quarterly monetary inventor awards processing and overseeing the annual Patent Week event celebrating innovation from the inventors and patent advocates within the organization. Interface with outside counsel on various patent prosecution and litigation matters. Assist attorneys with enabling and enforcing legal holds of custodial accounts for active cases and potential disputes. Work with IT to gather evidence or relevant documentation as described in information subpoenas and document requests using Google Vault. Organize and host meetings for litigation and claim updates with responsible attorneys. Serve as coordinator of Legal Tracker, a software program for outside firm's billing to track invoices, rate sheets, and budgets. Work with legal administrator to open purchase orders using Oracle software. Various other legal responsibilities as requested.
