Johnson Electric is one of the world's largest providers of motion subsystems and motion components for the automotive and industrial industry with annual production capacity of over one billion motors and motion subsystems. The outbreak of what is believed to be severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) began in the Guangdong province of China. This is the location of the main production plant for Johnson Electric and the company was concerned with the poor quality of available food outlets located around the factory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnson_Electric My role was to design 9 kitchen facilities’ located around 14 production buildings with the sole intention to produce 3 cooked meals per day for all 25000 (twenty-five thousand) workers. It’s a common activity for Chinese companies to include food and accommodation with their employment contract for all employees. I had to design and source all kitchen equipment’s from both local suppliers, manufacture specific items in stainless steel and import other equipment’s from the US, such as walk-in refrigeration. The team consisted of some 60+ workers from all professions such as: architectural design, civil, mechanical and electrical to meet the delivery deadline of 6 months, but this was completed on time and within budget of 1.2 million dollars.

Developed and managed the business relationship between Franke and Wal-Mart China, precisely their stainless steel equipment category requirements for all new Hyper-Stores. Led a team responsible for both hot and cold food service design within each Wal*Mart China Megastore. This included several large walk-in cold storage systems and kitchen production units for cooking, extraction and display systems within the store. Introduced a new digital architectural visualization service and HACCP food safety training, which decreased the commissioning time by over 50%, providing actual cost savings for Franke China.

However, my contract was extended to take control of completing the 39 elegantly appointed rooms to bring the project back on track for completion by August 1998.
