I help drive down the price of chicken and turkey by streamlining clients production processes. Prime Equipment holds over 30 patents in process technology that has helped to drive up production yield and reduce repetitive motion injuries to workers. Prime Equipment is represented in every major poultry producer in the U.S., and is gaining market share in foreign markets with a focus on Brazil and Russia.

As a Mechanical Engineer at Dillin I was responsible for taking customer plant layout drawings and assessing them for production improvements. This entailed rearranging existing capital equipment and integrating new Dillin manufactured equipment in order to increase plant productivity. I also designed Dillin equipment using Autocad and Inventor. This included working with R&D to concept a workable solution, then taking that concept and creating the associated assembly and detail drawings that manufacturing used to build the equipment. I was also tasked with taking existing equipment designs and streamlining them for cost reduction while keeping all functional criteria in place. As part of my streamlining efforts I created several lines of standard equipment including a line of “quick ship” conveyor that could be manufactured and shipped with 72 hours of order placement. I utilized the Microsoft office suite of software, including Excel and Word, to document drawings and track engineering changes. On a daily basis I interacted with Manufacturing and R&D to fully understand design concerns in order to help satisfy their needs and create functional, easy to assemble product. I also spent time on the shop floor assembling and fabricating equipment, as well as time in the field troubleshooting and installing equipment.

As a Designer 1 I was responsible for the design of industrial coolant filtration systems by deriving customer specifications and intent from layout drawings. Henry Filters are used in conjunction with metal machining processes. The main function of these systems is to filter metal chips from coolant so the coolant maybe recycled throughout the system. These systems were designed primarily for the Big Three Automakers as well as Honda, Navistar international, and Cummins. I worked closely with Project Management to ensure that all design intent was met. Additionally, I was tasked to develop new filtration technologies to keep the organization ahead our competitors.
