Led one of four Defense Department residency programs training Medical Corps physicians to become board certified ophthalmologists. Responsible for all aspects of postgraduate medical education to include: curriculum, evaluation, learning environment, faculty, supervision and program management. Served as a comprehensive ophthalmologist, refractive surgeon, and national trainer as well.

Directed the refractive surgery program at the Army's largest base to improve military readiness. Specialized in all-laser LASIK, PRK, and implantable contact lenses for refractive surgery, as well as premium multifocal and toric intraocular lenses for cataract surgery. Provided cataract, glaucoma, oculoplastic, and trauma care of the eye for soldiers, retirees, and their families.

Directed refractive surgery operations at the Army's 2nd largest medical center, including refractive surgery and optics instruction for the ophthalmology residency. Served as faculty for general ophthalmology training, with a focus on cataract surgery. Assisted in the planning and execution of humanitarian medical missions to Honduras, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.

Led Ft Stewart's Warfighter Refractive Surgery Clinic to become the premier academic and clinical refractive surgery center within the Army's Southern Medical Region--in terms of patient volume, visual outcomes, patient satisfaction, variety of procedures offered, and quality of resident and faculty training. Provided comprehensive medical and surgical eye care to the military and their families in the Savannah area.

Served as a Platoon Leader, Assistant Operations Officer, Company Executive Officer, Battalion Adjutant/Personnel Officer, and Detachment Commander for the 9th Engineer Battalion in Schweinfurt, Germany and in the former Yugoslavia.
