I am an experienced Park Ranger with a demonstrated history of working in the municipal parks environment. Skilled in Administration, English, Report Writing, Wilderness First Aid, Public Relations, and Strategic Planning. I am a strong leader with a long history of working in Parks, in addition to possessing a Master of Fine Arts - focused in Creative Writing from The University of British Columbia. Over the years that I've worked in Parks I have been an active partner in strategic planning, demand management, and leading teams. I have worked closely on rescues, searches, recoveries, and investigations with RCMP, Fire & Rescue, North Vancouver Search and Rescue, By-Law, Fire Prevention, and BC Ambulance. In addition, I have worked closely with other local partners, organizations and committees for the purposes of conservation, ecological protection, enforcement, stewardship, and staging special events. These have included the North Shore Black Bear Association, the North Shore Mountain Biking Association, the North Vancouver Lions Clubs, Provincial Conservation, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Coast Guard, Port Authority, Federal National Resource Office, and local Coast Salish Peoples including Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. I also serve as an active member of the Extended Operations Unit that is utilized as a force multiplier for Fire & Rescue in the case of special events or large-scale emergencies. This involves extended training, preparation and participation in various exercises and event management. Within Parks I am currently the Senior Ranger: responsible for all day-to-day operations and the implementation of long-term strategies and procedures for our Ranger division. I supervise a robust staff that can reach up to 13 in number, and we are responsible for over 150 Parks, including large-scale attractions such as Lynn Canyon and Deep Cove, alpine areas and trail systems on Mount Fromme and Mount Seymour, and the marine coast-line stretching from Cates Park to Indian Arm.
