Since 1978, the Denver Film Society (DFS) has worked to promote the medium of film as both an art form and a civic forum, developing a program that includes year-round screenings, community outreach projects and renowned special events. The DFS organizes annual festivals such as Film on the Rocks, a cinema/concert series held throughout the summer at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and then November’s flagship event, the Starz Denver Film Festival, an twelve-day roster of international screenings, red-carpet premieres and awards ceremonies. Other mini-Festivals and daily programming occur throughout the year at the Sie FilmCenter.The non-profit organization is the only one in the state of Colorado dedicated to the exhibition of independent film and fulfilling the mission of bringing diverse communities together through that experience of film.
