WSP2 creates and manufactures unique assitve eating utensils that help people who struggle with a variety of health problems. The mission of this venture is to provide users with increased independence, human dignity, and quality of life while reducing costs for healthcare facilities. WSP2's first product, the SOUP Spoon (Separation of Un-solid Portions), is an assistive eating utensil designed to empower individuals who struggle with tremors to eat independently without spilling or drawing unwanted attention. Along with my co-founder I managed a broad range of responsibilities including general business formation, analyzing and tracking user testing and continually improving product iterations based on customer feedback loops, securing IP protection, managing initial sales, developing business and sales leads and generating quality business relationships. Some of our ventures achievements include winning the stage 1 E-Team grant from the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA), graduated the DTX Launch Detroit program hosted at TechTown Detroit, completed the Michigan Collegiate Innovation Prize (MCIP) start-up accelerator, top 10 student finalist in the 2013 Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition.

Completed three separate four-month co-op rotations with BASF’s Advanced Development Engineering group. Conducted plastic design and analysis for applications in a broad range of industries including automotive, industrial, and consumer. Piloted brainstorming and ideation sessions with creative teams to identify plastic opportunities and implement new innovative product solutions. Gained proficiency in computer aided design, surface modeling, FEA analysis, generating reports, and presenting results and findings to collaborative teams. Led prototype testing and rapid design iterations driven by specific project requirements including structural, ascetic, and manufacturability. Performed product teardowns and reverse engineering utilizing BASF’s plastic concepts and unique composite materials for weight reduction and cost savings. Oversaw projects throughout all stages of development from whiteboard concepts to initial production runs.

Participated in design and analysis for a (USABC) funded project developing structural housing for high performance batteries in electric vehicles.
