I was involved in actively building the siteas well as managing off shore developers to build full integration with ivillage internal Sage system, a Java drivenuser management and newsletter system. After that we build a Drupal driven home page for ivillage.com which is used to showactivities between all 42 channels of ivillage.com . Therefore I wrote an import API which allows editors to insertcontent by using a bookmarktool that interacts with several systems such as Vignette, mzinga, Moveable Type and more. Now I amworking on a big migration project and started to import Vignette and MT content thru self made webservices into Drupal.This system is supposed to share content between all ivillage properties and partner sites.

So I went through the whole application and appliedcommon cache mechnisms such as APC, Squid, table cache and memcache to stand the peaks without outages on a loadbalanced server cluster. So I worked close with their 3rd party developers to advise them how to get the things done. I was alsobuilding and managing their internal Drupal version which was supposed to be a ready to go application for the music and videoindustry.

This project was supposed to be a big mashup of different technologies and frameworks to monetize user driven communties andblogs by offering a dropship ecommerce system for each site. It was basically similar to ning where you can have your own socialnetwork site but with a shopsystem which offered beside own products also ca. 3000 article from a drop ship product supplier. Thesite was using Drupal for the community and bloging features and Magento for the ecommerce part. Several custom functionallitywas added to both system to get this complex application together. I was also managing an off shore team of 10 developers from allover the world but mostly india and russia.
