The Principal Financial Commercial Business Partner, reporting to the CFO of Technical and Sustainability (T&S), plays a lead role in driving financial performance through the provision of financial insight and business performance analysis to the T&S Function, Group and senior stakeholders, enabling effective operational decision making and allocation of resources and effort.• Understanding the overall Breakthrough pathway for the Group, ensuring T&S breakthrough initiatives are aligned with strategy, BU Business plans, Anglo Operating Model and associated frameworks.• Understanding the progress of breakthrough initiatives in respect of value to be delivered, costs incurred and timing of the transition to the BU for execution. Ensuring all breakthrough initiatives for the discipline are accurately captured in T&S work register/OMS and fortnightly progress report is submitted.• Driving performance management discussions through the assessment and evaluation of the financial performance of discipline with regards to budgets, forecasts, and long-term operational goals. Providing financial analysis and insight on performance to date, connecting issues, identifying themes and monitoring KPIs, highlighting implications and providing recommendations where appropriate.• Undertaking ad-hoc projects (including Breakthrough development) for T&S Commercial Finance as required to deliver high quality and effective decision making and performance reporting, identifying and implementing areas for continuous improvement.

Provide guidance and expertise on the implementation and utilisation of a centralised systemised reporting package for the Marketing Business Unit, that will enable automation and systemisation of the Finance function across Marketing, and scalable to the wider areas of the business. This centralised repository had to cater for multiple ERP systems (>2 different SAP, >4 different Ellipse, plus Excel reports), charts of accounts, cost centre structures, and currencies. • Provided the driving force for the establishment of metadata for the Performance Cubes, creating the relationships that allow for systemised reporting, and provided the ongoing upkeep• Created the Project Plan and implementation plan for the project, and achieved all major deliveries on time• Provided the logic to replicate the Marketing Business’ Monthly Performance Report with live data from a centralised repository, and presented in Power BI & Tableau• Created Exco Dashboard, powered by the repository, that enable the Exco to have quick access to data across the business and the ability to splice data as required• Initiated the transition from Excel based reporting and calculation, to systemised calculation and reporting, with the rollout commencing in Q3 2018, and being delivered through 2019• Creation of Performance Reporting framework to enable consistency and compliance in approach for the Marketing team • Prepared the consolidated Marketing MPR with commentary and analysis, contributing in-depth knowledge of Production processes to link production impacts to working capital impacts• Commence BP19 processes, with the creation of new Budget templates to assist with centralised loading, and greater checks built in to reduce human errorIn addition to delivering the above as part of my role, I also delivered the following to assist with furthering the Marketing Business:• Creation of a valuation model to assess the worthiness of Sourcing and Origination deals for our Traders.

Within the role i am responsible for the coordination and consolidation of the monthly of the forecast, the annual budget, and month end review. I am responsible for coordinating the preparation of monthly management reports and forecast reports.

My responsibilities within GSS have expanded significantly since starting the role in August 2010.Through collaboration with GSS-AS APAC we are responsible for delivering the financial result for AAMC, and I am currently directly responsible for delivering the financial result for Canada which is a new inclusion into the Met Coal business. During the implementation I was accountable for aligning the Canadian procedures with Met coal procedures and ensuring to retain the accounting integrity.My efforts over the first month end were recognised by management and I received the driving performance award for the month of January in appreciation for my efforts. This is the third award I have won whilst working in GSS-APAC in regards to performance.I have received great support from management and have been recognised for my potential in GSS when I was selected to attend the GSS Supervisor Training which was a 3 week course designed at developing my personal abilities, my management abilities, and at delivering a better customer experience to Anglo American.I was previously responsible for Callide JV, Callide Sales, Saddlers Creek JV, and Dartbrook JV. I also provide support to Dawson JV and Drayton JV. During my time as a financial accountant, I used my knowledge of IT systems to help deliver efficiencies that will save the team large amounts of manual entry, I also identified issues around our accounting for foreign exchange, and had vast success in reconciling general ledgers where others had struggled. My greatest contribution to the team was the ability to easily communicate with other departments due to past relationships formed.One of my aims for 2012 in GSS-APAC Accounting Services is to help create a CA program within GSS and have it extend to the wider Met Coal business. This program will help guide and support young accountant who are completing their CA graduate dipolar.
