When I became a teacher in Chicago, I discovered the true meaning of what it means to become an educator. Teaching inner city students has shown me how important it is to inspire children who truly learn differently from others. Walking into a classroom and understanding that I may be the only relief a student has during the day gives me the spirit and energy to give every child my entire being; I value advocacy for all of the students. I have learned how to give children a holistic education that grants autonomy and freedom to become self-aware while discovering the many facets of a rigorous, fully integrated arts curriculum. Teaching in Chicago has given me an insatiable desire to connect with all learners no matter the need. This in turn has led me to the next step of my life, administration. I envision cultivating a school environment that is not only rigorous but also innovative and rewarding.
