Successfully implemented several grant programs (Facade Improvement Program, Rental Rehabilitation Program) that have resulted in over half a million dollars in investment in downtown Marine City, resulting in increased economic activity over the past several years. Completed $750,000 exterior rehabilitation of our 125+ year old city hall with the assistance of a $250,000 federal grant and $500,000 funding from the city's Tax Increment Finance Authority. Adopted the first Complete Streets Ordinance in St. Clair County, requiring our Planning Commission to develop a Nonmotorized Plan for Marine City. Approved Marine City's participation (along with St. Clair) as a St. Clair County "Trail Town" to encourage development and enhancement of our nonmotorized trails. Established US Bicycle Route 20 in Marine City, which serves as the eastern end of this interstate route. Made Marine City Beach the first Smoke Free public beach in St. Clair County. Amended the city's sign ordinance allowing projecting signs in our downtown area, which has been utilized by several businesses since adoption of the ordinance amendment. Amended the city's Bed and Breakfast ordinance, allowing for development of these businesses adjacent to the downtown area. Encouraged more administrative involvement in the St. Clair County Transportation Study (SCCOTS), resulting in federal funding for road rehabilitation projects on South Belle River Avenue, Bridge Street and Water Street. Adopted resolution requiring annual creation of a Capital Improvement Plan by the Planning Commission to be adopted as part of the annual budget. Encouraged and approved Marine City's participation as an associate community in the Michigan Main Street program. -
