Patrick managed a team of attorneys, law clerks and support staff members whose mission was the prosecution of violent repeat offenders and complex, multi-defendant cases. The unit also worked with both local and national law enforcement partners to conduct longer term investigations into pattern offenses involving serial violence, human trafficking and drug trafficking organizations. Patrick oversaw the implementation of several grant funded operations, including the Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) program, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program and the City Corrections Investigative Unit (CCIU) program. Additionally, he was responsible for supervising the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) Strike Force prosecutor, in cooperation with the US Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland.

Homicide Unit

Patrick served as an assistant in the homicide unit, prosecuting high profile homicide and vehicular homicide cases throughout the City of Baltimore. In addition to his homicide caseload, he was responsible for managing post-conviction cases and collateral issues related to past and current homicide cases. He was also designated to investigate use of force incidents involving the Baltimore City Police Department. As a result of his accomplishments with the homicide unit, which included trying nearly thirty homicide cases, Patrick was honored to receive the 2019 Mark Cohen Award, recognizing the outstanding felony prosecutor of the year.

Felony Trial Unit

Patrick served as an assistant on the Violent Crimes Team, prosecuting violent felony offenses ranging from assault to attempted murder. Additionally, Patrick was designated as one of the unit's arson prosecutors. During his brief time with the unit, he tried six cases to verdict, including jury trial convictions for first degree attempted murder, armed robbery, assault and numerous handgun violations.

Child Abuse & Sex Crimes Bureau

Patrick served as a felony assistant in the Child Abuse & Sex Crimes bureau. He individually managed a caseload of approximately 40 cases, including violent felony indictments, misdemeanor criminal cases, Sex Offender Registration Act determinations and complex, pre-arrest criminal investigations. He gained extensive experience drafting and obtaining search warrants concerning both real property and technological mediums. He has also received specialized training and experience in DNA prosecutions and forensic interviewing of children. During his time in the Child Abuse & Sex Crimes bureau, Patrick tried eight cases to verdict, including jury trial convictions for murder, rape, criminal sexual act, sexual abuse, felonious assault, felonious strangulation and endangering the welfare of a child.

Domestic Violence Bureau

Patrick managed all aspects of the prosecution of more than 1,100 criminal cases ranging from misdemeanor offenses to violent felonies. He gained valuable experience in the drafting of criminal complaints, arraignments, grand jury presentations, plea negotiations, motion practice, discovery practice, pre-trial hearings, trials and court calendar management. During his time in the Domestic Violence Bureau, Patrick interviewed and prepared thousands of victims, witnesses and police personnel in anticipation of trial. In total, he tried twenty-nine cases to verdict.
