HitTrax is system for monitoring pitches, hits, and catches in batting cages – facilitating analytics, coaching, recruiting, gaming, and tournaments. It is deployed in many countries throughout the world, in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. My project was conversion of MySQL/PHP system into fully scalable backend running on Microsoft Azure. Wrote MySQL Importer into Azure SQL. Implemented data parallelism strategy that enabled live cutover with zero downtime on a system with dozens of data updates occurring every second. Azure platform development in .NET and C#, with Entity Framework, Dependency Injection. Platform included several websites, applications, and core technologies. Worked in PHP to facilitate cutover. Ported numerous queries into Elasticsearch 5.3 indices updated simultaneously with Azure SQL. These key queries run in Elasticsearch in a one second timeframe, as compared what would have been many minutes on any relational database. Ported several AuthorizeNET services and backend jobs into the Azure system. Also did in-depth investigation on technology to develop HitTrax TV, involving Azure Media Services, Dash.js, Wirecast, and several low-latency techniques for a video chat.
