I’m currently a finance major at Fordham University in the Gabelli School of Business. I am interested in picking up a minor in math, computer science, or accounting, though I am unsure as to which one yet. Additionally, I am currently looking for internships in the finance industry. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy taking part in extracurricular activities, specifically those which are sports-related. I played baseball my whole life, am currently part of the club ultimate frisbee team, and often play basketball. I believe the competitiveness and teamwork skills I have acquired from playing team sports my whole life will make me an asset to my future employer. I decided to go to a magnet high school that offered a strategic asset management major, and my time at high school confirmed that I was interested in business, specifically finance. We followed the stock market daily in class, and I realized that I wanted to work closely with the market. In high school, I utilized an internship program to work at Richfield Farms on Wednesdays during my senior year. At Richfield Farms, I shadowed an accountant and helped assist in transitioning their bookkeeping from manual entry to QuickBooks. I learned about bookkeeping and its process while also assisting in customer service at times. I helped customers find items and assisted in loading items such as plants and soil bags into their cars, which helped me learn how to interact with customers, the most important part of the business. So far at Fordham, I’ve most enjoyed taking a statistics course. I’m specifically interested in probability and how it can relate to all parts of life. For example, sports I watch, especially baseball, are influenced heavily by probability in their strategies. I would like to continue studying statistics and learn how they can apply to business, similarly to how I already know they apply to baseball. I can be reached at pbohan@fordham.edu
