The mission of eFuse is to help anyone in the world to change their life through gaming. Fundamentally we wanted to bring opportunities in the gaming and esports space to masses through scholarships, internships, full time jobs, or through direct sponsorships. I joined eFuse in October 2019 as the CTO, and employee #4, before the company had a product or revenue. Over the next two years I laid the foundation for our product and software and product engineering organization to build software on a modern software stack (Typescript, React, React Native, GraphQL) with full continuous deployment, A/B testing, etc. Organizationally I laid the foundation for many organizational processes to help us scale such as: establish an interviewing process, recruiting, moving to OKRs, etc.

My team managed thousands of edge servers which comprise of Netflix's Video Delivery Network and L7 anycast load balancers. In this role I spent a lot of time troubleshooting and debugging issues across network protocols (IP, TCP, TLS, HTTP/2) to ensure a great QoE for all netflix customers regardless of their geography or device. I also spent time building CI test suite in python to ensure the correctness of our load balancers before and following deployment.

The Net Systems team is responsible for much of the centralized software control plane powering virtually all of facebook's backbone/routing network infrastructure. In addition to control plane we also manage a fleet of software running on every facebook host that performs different network data plane functionality (shaping, marking, ILA) and various other sampled data collection for monitoring the network.In addition to Net Systems team I have helped lead our Network Disaster Recovery efforts to limit the impact to our services/infrastructure during large scale network outages. I've also and played a role in other org-wide XFN projects including network efficiency efforts to make sure we are utilizing our network capacity as efficiently as possible.

The traffic is responsible for our global load balancing infrastructure which involves load balancing through DNS, and layer 3 (IP), 4(TCP), and 7 (HTTP, SPDY) in the networking stack. We also manage the buildout and global operation of our edge infra to ensure facebook is fast for users all around the world. More specifically I worked on the CDN team to ensure reliable and efficient delivery of photos/videos to people accessing facebook anywhere in the world.

The Site Reliability team was responsible for making sure facebook was online and reliable. We participated in virtually all outages and worked closely with teams around the infrastructure to help improve their systems' monitoring, reliability, and resiliency.

I work with awesome team of individuals and our primary role is to ensure the availability of all virtual, physical and mainframe Linux servers throughout Nationwide's environment. We provide 24-hour incident response support to our business partners (Nationwide Insurance, Nationwide Bank) and also handle all of the day-to-day work requests working with application owners. Our environment is fairly complex and we maintain the servers across all three tiers of a traditional application stack including web servers (IBM IHS), application servers (WebSphere), and database (Standalone Oracle, Oracle RAC, Veritas VCS). Some of our systems are mission critical with complex storage requirements such (for example: shared tier 1 disks across hosts with SRDF replication to our DR environment) so we also work intimately with the storage and Oracle teams to provide these solutions. Supporting environments as complex as ours require a holistic understanding of the entire software stack and server configurations to diagnose and correct infrastructure issues.Some other notable accomplishments in my current role include:- Ensure availability for all virtual, physical, and mainframe Linux across application tiers- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for high profile production outages- Develop and integrate lifecycle management tool (Oracle/Django) for Linux server tracking- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to improve infrastructure resiliency- Create tools to automate and monitor our production environments with python and bash

I stopped all the pointing and clicking, saw the light, and embraced that power that is the linux commandline. I handled all sorts of linuxy sys administration tasks for all linux servers @ nationwide and automating anything and everything I could in bash and/or python.
