For as long as I can remember, I have possessed a desire to learn how things work and determine how I could improve and/or innovate on their original design. An anecdote: As a child, I once took a model rocket I had built for 4-H and converted it into a “firework.” The end result was less firework and more second-stage rocket back towards earth. Injuries and damage averted, I learned an important lesson: when innovating, consider ALL possibilities in the design phase. Many years and experiences later, my proclivity for innovation and continuous improvement served me well in my roles as a U.S. Navy pilot and officer. Ultimately, achieving peak performance comes down to people, no matter the organization, situation, or environment. From the cockpit to leading sailors in the hangar, every day and every mission brought opportunities to challenge norms and ensure the present state was the optimal state. Today, my desire for improvement is a core component of my personal ethos and helps guide my actions in all situations. As a husband, father, leader, coach, and peer, I seek to make the most of each opportunity, to personally grow, and to serve and collaborate with others to better my community and our planet. My role as an energy consultant allows me to do this professionally and ties into my determination for my children’s generation to have a future they can count on.Other interesting facts:+ I love adventure and experiencing new things: I enjoy the outdoors, am an avid skier, love road trips, and appreciate the vastness of our planet.+ Prior to consulting, I spent 10 years as a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and instructor, where I was awarded three Navy Achievement Medals and guided dozens of sailors towards promotions and advancements within and beyond the Navy.+ I continue to fly various types of aircraft and, to feed the engineer inside me and maintain my pilot skills, I built a full VR-based flight simulator from scratch.+ I purchased a non-operating, partly complete 1975 BMW 2002 project car to teach myself basic to moderate automotive skills.+ I owned a 2017 BMW i3 BEV and loved every minute of it. EV’s are the future, for countless reasons, and I can’t wait for my next EV. + My wife and I packed our kids and dog into our minivan and tackled 4 National Parks, National Forests, multiple other scenic stops, and 3500 miles of roadway. + I sang in the U.S. Naval Academy Men’s Glee Club and had the opportunity to meet amazing people and travel to amazing places around the world during my four years.
