About Patrick S O'Dwyer

A social worker by background (specialising in mental health) I have more than thirty years experience in a range of practitioner, senior management and development roles in the public and voluntary sectors including mental health, social care, criminal justice and supported housing. As a skilled project and programme manager I have led on a wide range of work including leading the cross-cutting policy work stream for a Department of Health led national review of people with mental health problems and learning disabilities in the criminal justice system. I took a lead role in establishing an innovative regional multi-agency risk information-sharing project across mental health services, criminal justice agencies and emergency services. I have extensive experience of service improvement and change management including co-designing integrated supported housing solutions to facilitate step-down from forensic mental health inpatient care and community crisis house provision. My experience has included setting up a single point of access for community mental health urgent care and assessment service from scratch and adapting/embedding national evidence-based guidance on relational security across a large organisation. I have experience of designing and delivering flexible training packages to a wide range of professionals and organisations particularly in the fields of mental health, relational security, risk management, information-sharing and suicide prevention.
