Exploration and research, some of the methods conducted for the project involved, working with experts, literature analysis and behavioral observations.From the gathered data, design and concept was seen through until a final prototype was fabricated.

The project involved analysing an existing product and its materials and the process that it uses. This task required the basic knowledge on materials properties and method of manufacturing identifications. The data for from the analysis was then used to determine a possible change in the materials or process to make it more sustainable and ecologically friendly. From this experience I gain valuable knowledge in materials properties understanding and sustainable product designing.

The project involved working with the toy manufacturer HeadStart, to design and create a new series of action figurines set with vehicles aimed at 5-12 years old, that are ready for manufacturing. I was tasked with designing and modelling one of the vehicles. A series of rapid concept sketching was made and further refined in 3D form in Solidworks. During the modelling stage further refinements was made to the design, while taking into considerations of material and tooling costs for injection moulding. From this experience I have developed a greater understanding of the manufacturing process, client communications and moulding for mass manufacture.
