In my time at York I was able to update previous policies concerning on site safety and create training programs that ensured our workforce has the knowledge and tools to perform their duties in a safe manner and in compliance with company policies. My role as Safety Manager included being responsible for the implementation and maintenance of company safety policies. I was instrumental in ensuring that safety considerations were employed in planning work activities. I created Job Hazard Analyses for each activity and provided onsite training for new employees as well as new task training for existing employees when required. I used issues that arose on the job site to create safety meetings and toolbox talks that were shared with employees on a weekly and daily basis.

Mobile, Alabama Area

I was a member of a Safety team and was responsible for compliance of company safety policies at the field level. I provided safety training as required in areas such as Confined Space Entry/Attendant, Proper Equipment Operation, Fall Protection, and Safe Rigging Principles. I conducted weekly safety meetings that covered issues relevant to the project.

Greater Chicago Area

While in Area Erector’s employ I oversaw safety responsibilities on multiple job sites and ensured that both the iron-workers and job sites were not only OSHA compliant but that they also fell in line with the company’s on-site safety policy standards. Before the start of construction I created site-specific safety plans for each project I was assigned to. In pre-construction meetings I coordinated with Area’s project managers and superintendents as well as general contractors and construction managers regarding safety planning for each project. I conducted on-site safety training and random on-site inspections. I met regularly with Area staff to discuss current safety policies in order to further the company’s safety goals and help achieve a gold standard in this industry.

Birmingham, Al.

As a Site Safety Manager for IIC I ensured that the workers and job site adhered to the company’s policies and standards for onsite safety as well being OSHA and MSHA compliant. I conducted new employee safety training including: OSHA 10 hour, MSHA 24 hour Part 48 Safety Training, 8 Hour Annual Refresher Miner Training, and New Task safety training. I led weekly site wide safety meetings where safety issues that might have arisen could be addressed. I had the responsibility to report and maintain records of recordable and lost time incidents, individual’s specific task training, and safety training. I implemented IIC’s safety disciplinary policies in accordance with company standards.
