As a design engineer, providing the essential and desired tools to enable care providers to deliver therapy and enable the alleviation of pain drives the work I do! At Medtronic, I have helped extend the access for current patients to our new Pain and Deep Brain Stimulation device platforms and to creating robust therapy improvements to InterStim tm for patients who suffer from Incontinence. And now I'm leading the strategy for next generation patient home monitoring solutions, to drive value and care transformation for implantable cardiac devices.While providing technical depth to ensure high quality, robust therapy delivery solutions, I focus on ensuring the voice of the physician and patient are heard at those technical depths, never losing sight of the real job to be done - alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life - the core of the Medtronic Mission.For the last seven years I have sought to put the "Why" we do it in the beginning, middle, and end of the "what" and "how" we do it. I have been focusing my interests in the area of Design Thinking principles and praxis from Stanford and using it to both optimize innovation and foster creative behaviors built around human-centered design. I continue to see the value and need for design the greater experience the products fit into, creating comprehensive and empathetic solutions that meet the needs of the whole person.
