Pat Ford is a Senior Structural Project Manager at R.A. Smith, Inc. and a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was formerly an owner principal of Matsen Ford Design Associates, Inc., a registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin and in numerous other states, and a member of the ASCE , and ASTM International. He is also a committee member and chair of the AISI and AWCI , and is a past President, Director, and Lifetime Member of the CFSEI . Additionally, he serves as the Technical Director of the SFIA.His professional experience includes management and engineering design, as well as business development in design/build. He has also been a facilities planner and a project engineer for a steel construction products manufacturer. His work in these positions has involved nearly all structural design, contract, and project management functions on a wide variety of commercial, industrial, and institutional building projects, in addition to sales, marketing, and management of negotiated design/build work.He has designed hundreds of projects throughout the country and outside the U.S. in a variety of different structural systems including his specialty of Cold-formed steel. Among his favorite projects are: The Calatrava Art Museum Wing; Milwaukee, WI The Montage Mixed Use Development; Reno, NV City Green Apartments; Milwaukee, WI Courthouse Square – Ph.1 – 4; Wheaton, ILAside from project design and technical backup duties, he has authored a number of papers and articles, spoken at numerous industry conventions and seminars, and assisted in the testing and revision of various A.I.S.I. specification and other code provisions.Pat’s volunteer associations have included STEM education mentoring, coaching baseball and various youth soccer groups, and the BSA. His favorite outside interests include golf, cards, art and live theatre, old cars and when in season - cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers as well as other regional sports teams.
