Patrick Williford is the Water Quality Manager for Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), a large drinking water service supplier in the U.S. Patrick’s leadership role & focus is on water quality, water treatment, distribution systems, and laboratory management, quality control and quality assurance, and manages a group of 26 team members with 6 direct reports. The group is responsible for maintaining compliance with drinking water regulations in our southeast Michigan service area and collects and processes approximately 3,200 samples each month with nearly 25,000 analyses being performed each month. We also perform disinfections of new and repaired water mains, reservoirs, and pumping stations.Patrick has a continuous education practice in leadership and earned his master’s degree in physical chemistry from Wayne State University (WSU), along with a Hazardous Waste Control Graduate Certificate from the WSU Engineering School. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, a Bachelor of Science equivalency in Computer Science from WSU, and two associate degrees from Macomb Community College. Patrick is a certified Water System Operator in Michigan, holding both F-2 and S3 licenses.Specialties include: Team oriented leadership and management, QA & QC of drinking water and their related analyses and treatments, drinking water regulations and standards, validating water main installations & repairs with regulatory standards, working with wholesale & retail customers regarding water quality issues, and monitoring the water treatment & water distribution systems for contamination and regulatory compliance standards.
