Patrick is a Partner in Reed Smith’s Appellate Group. His practice encompasses a wealth of areas, including financial services, class actions, aviation, employment, insurance disputes, arbitration clauses, and elections. He is experienced in matters before the Supreme Court of the United States and has successfully briefed and argued cases nationwide. The Chicago Bar Foundation awarded Patrick with its 2022 Exceptional Young Lawyer Award, and Crain's Chicago Business named Patrick to its 2023 list of Notable Litigators. In multiple rulings, courts have noted Patrick’s "excellent representation," "excellent briefing and argument," and "stellar arguments."Prior to joining Reed Smith, Patrick taught as a visiting lecturer at Moi University School of Law in Kenya and clerked for Judge D. Michael Fisher on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.Patrick also maintains an extensive pro bono practice. In particular, he has obtained high-profile victories for indigent individuals and non-profit organizations in cases advancing LGBTQ+ rights and anti-gerrymandering efforts.
