In the Spring of 2016 my career took a surprising turn, catapulting me into the world of contemporary art. My wife and I realised that there is a demand for an extensive online channel to sell and buy art. There are so many beautiful artworks hidden in the Finnish studios that are never or very seldom made available to the public.Subsequently, we started to plan and develop an online marketplace for original Finnish art named Taiko, launched on 30th November 2016. After having operated within Finland, Taiko took a big leap in September 2018, making purchases and deliveries from Taiko available worldwide. Our aim is to make art easily accessible to both consumers and companies by providing an extensive and effortless marketplace for buying high quality Finnish art. Taiko now offers thousands of artworks by hundreds of professional artists, making it the world's largest online marketplace for Finnish art.Taiko combines all the competences I've accumulated through the years, such as strategic PR and marketing, networking and content production.Taiko is a registered trademark under limited company Demosarte Oy Ab, founded in 2016.I began my career as a radio journalist with the Finnish broadcasting company YLE. I then made the transition from radio waves to pen strokes and became a writing journalist for the Finnish News Agency STT, e.g. as a Nordic correspondent. My Nordic orientation led me to Copenhagen where I worked as Senior Advisor with the Communications Department for the Nordic Council of Ministers.After having worked for several companies and organisations I felt the time was ripe to stand on my own two feet. In March of 2013 I established my own communications agency, Pop Communications, together with my wife Pia. In November 2016, we founded Taiko, which we regard as our third child.I have a master’s degree in political science from Åbo Academy. I’m 50+ (isn't age just a number) and the happy father of two awesome football loving boys.
