At Rialtic I was the leader of the Data and Integration team at Rialtic, a series A startup that is bringing better payment accuracy & transparency to healthcare claims processing. Reporting directly to the CTO, I successfully led a team in designing and building out a robust and secure data pipeline and data lakehouse architecture using AWS, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Spark for storing and analyzing protected health information with HIPPA compliance using elements of data vault design. I managed a team of four developers and worked alongside three functional leads using Agile scrum processes while also contributing to the codebase. Currently, the tech stack we develop in includes Airflow, Postgres, Spark, AWS Athena, Go services, Kuberentes, with workflows and CI/CD in ArgoCD — all running on AWS Cloud. I oversaw the development of synthetic health record data creation, analysis, and service using generative AI (ChatGPT3 & ChatGPT4). I mapped the process to add Snowflake, and dbt over the course of the next year. I researched and coded highly complex parsers and validators for modern and older health care claim data interchange formats including FHIR and EDI x12 835P, 837I, and 835.

At Insider I twice launched a major business vision into successful reality. In my first two years, I used my management and architecture skills to lead a new commerce engineering team to successful outcomes in the coding of new software that was responsible for driving 75% growth in affiliate commerce revenue YoY. During the latter two years I worked on a newly established, fully remote, Data Engineering team to build out a mature central data infrastructure and practice for supporting business units. My work as a data engineer was architecting and creating a data pipeline infrastructure for powering business analytics at Insider Inc. I created ETL and ELT processes using python & dbt to load data in to GCP BigQuery and Snowflake data warehouse. I worked with GCP cloud services and Airflow to orchestrate ephemeral environments for load processes using Kubernetes. I used Terraform (infrastructure as code) managed by Atlantis on GitActions to manage infrastructure on GCP and Snowflake. I created an config driven API data ingress app that sped up development of ingesting data from third party apis by 80% and a config driven system for dynamically loading legacy ETL code modules to an ephemeral execution app environment. This allowed the new optimized app to execute legacy processes without a lengthy conversion to the new framework. I mentored junior engineers, performing code reviews and pair programming regularly.

I was the acting Director for the Commerce Team, comprised of seven developers and a QA engineer, which develops and supports commerce products for the Business Insider and Insider brands.
