Pat founded market leading 3G/LTE router company CradlePoint, Inc with the idea of delivering personal connectivity that leveraged the converging technologies of both WiFi and 3G cellular. CradlePoint saw many milestones, including the introduction of the first 802.11 ‘n’ 3G router and the first travel router that supported both USB and ExpressCard modems. Other products created that year expanded the company’s reach to support kiosk, digital signage and the traditional mobile-to-mobile market. In 2008, CTIA (the international association for the wireless telecommunications industry) awarded CradlePoint with the Emerging Technology Award for the PHS300 Personal WiFi Hotspot, and Verizon Wireless certified two CradlePoint products through its Open Development Initiative. This certification helped drive some key deployments within several high-volume enterprise customers. Additionally, CradlePoint engaged in various OEM and carrier-branded opportunities with the likes of Kyocera and Sprint through its WiPipe-Powered initiative. Under Pat’s leadership, CradlePoint has successfully raised outside capital through venture capitalists OVP, Mercato Partners, and Highway 12, manufacturing partner U-Media and Silicon Valley Bank, putting CradlePoint on a transition path from start-up stage to revenue growth stage. It has strong customer traction with nearly 1,000,000 devices sold to over 50 major retail brands, quick service restaurants and insurance and banking companies. Currently CradlePoint employs approximately 450 people and has products certified on Verizon Wireless, Sprint, AT&T, and Clearwire networks.
